Higher Ed offers boiler operator license course

Cook County Higher Education will collaborate with Mesabi Range Community and Technical College to offer a low pressure boiler/special license preparation course on May 6 and 7 in Grand Marais.

The class is designed for maintenance personnel in plants, facilities and commercial buildings. Participants will understand safe operation and maintenance of all low pressure boilers and become familiar with Minnesota boiler licensure requirements. The course is eight hours and will be taught over two four-hour days; there is a $150 fee. It will prepare participants for the state examination.

The course instructor is Bill Parker, who holds a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering, a master of arts in management, and a master of business administration. He retired from United Steel Corporation after 32 years of service and now works as an adjunct instructor at Mesabi Range Community & Technical College. Parker holds a First Class B State of Minnesota Boilers License.

Registration deadline is April 29. Call Higher Ed at (218) 387-3411 for more information.
