Chisago City-based Natural Systems Utilities, MN (NSU) received 22 wastewater facility operation awards, including one for the Heritage at Lutsen development, from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) at the annual Wastewater Operations Conference.
NSU is again the recipient of more awards than any other decentralized wastewater management company in the state.
The awards are based on a facility demonstrating full compliance with MPCA operation permits. They also require that facilities are overseen by properly certified operators; all required monthly and annual reports are timely and properly completed; and facilities have no bypasses, enforcement actions or inspections identifying compliance issues.
From 2003 to 2011, NSU has earned 102 awards from the MPCA and in the past has received a Minnesota Environmental Initiative Award for its role in decentralized wastewater management across Minnesota.
