Help provided for those needing to start or change Medicare

If you need help to change or start a Medicare supplemental or drug insurance program for 2017 by the Open Enrollment deadline of December 7 you can get help from a Senior Linkage Line trained volunteer.

A trained volunteer will be available on Monday, December 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Grand Marais Senior Center.

You will need to bring a Medicare card and any existing insurance plan information (if you are already on a supplemental or drug insurance plan), and an itemized list of any prescription drugs you take (name of drug, dosage, how often taken).

To make an appointment, please call the Senior Center from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays at 387- 2660.

The appointments will be for a half hour per person. Please make an appointment only if you wish to add or change a Medicare supplemental or drug insurance plan for 2017—other issues are not subject to the December 7 deadline, and there will be more counseling sessions available at a later date.

If you have questions, please call Steve Deschene, Senior Linkage Line volunteer at 387- 1767.
