The Natural Resource Sources Council (NRCS) which works under the Farm Bill to implement practices to reduce soil erosion, help water quality and other practices identified in the Farm Bill, local landowners, local partners and the Soil and Water Conservation District would like to invite you to the local work group meeting and listening session.
As the local SWCD, we work with NRCS to help put practices on the ground. Each year there is a local work group pulled together for the purpose of providing input on the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) for 2020.
This meeting will be an opportunity to provide input as to the funding priorities for the Conservation Provisions of the Federal Farm Bill that NRCS is responsible for implementing. Work is already under way to develop program guidance for the year.
During this meeting we can:
. Identify and Prioritize Resource Concerns/Practices and Develop Specific Ranking Questions.
. Identify Geographic Areas/ Watersheds to Receive Priority Within the County.
. Make Technical and Programmatic Recommendations (are there practices or scenarios that need to be added in order to address a specific resource concern in the county).
. Improve forest health and/or improve wildlife habitat.
. Your input will be important to helping us implement the Farm Bill.
The meeting will held at the Cook County Community Center (and will be via video conference at the Lake SWCD office) on April 11, 2019 at 9 a.m.
The community center is located at 317 5th St. Grand Marais.
