Cook County is known throughout the state and region as a destination for natural beauty, outdoor activity, culture and the arts, and clean air and water. Our front-line service staff and businesses play an important role in promoting that “healthy” face of Cook County to both locals and visitors. But did you know that there are many competitive economic advantages for businesses that choose to promote healthy work environments? Worksite Wellness programs are associated with reduced health care costs, increased productivity, lower absenteeism, improved recruitment and retention, and improved employee health and morale.
Cook County businesses are invited to take part in a progressive opportunity for your business provided to you by the Statewide Health Improvement Program (SHIP). The primary goal of SHIP is to help Minnesotans live longer, healthier lives by reducing the burden of chronic disease.
Workplace Wellness is one of the focus areas of SHIP in our county and on the Grand Portage Reservation. Several businesses in Cook County will be selected to participate. One of the many benefits of this program is that SHIP is providing the funding for the workplace wellness consultants.
If a workplace wellness program is of interest to your business, please join us on Monday, December 6th from noon to one pm at the East Bay Suites, Stone’s Throw Room for Working Towards Wellness…
Is it Right for Your Business?
This meeting is open to all businesses in the area. Worksite Wellness professionals will offer a 10-15 minute presentation on workplace wellness and be available for questions. A light lunch will be served.
If you are unable to attend this meeting but are interested in learning more about this opportunity, please contact Kristin Wharton with Sawtooth Mountain Clinic at 387-2330 or Kristin@ sawtoothmountainclinic.org, April McCormick with Grand Portage SHIP at 475-3014, or Christy Clay with Fit City Duluth at 218-839.0787 or christy@fitcityduluth. com.
