Have you heard about the Art Colony’s new artistin residence?

Hazel Belvo is the first artist, April 9-22, during which time she will work on a major body of largescale work, give three public lectures on visual literacy and art critiquing, and open the studio daily for people to drop in and watch the artistic process unfold. Daily open houses are planned from 5 to 6 p.m.

Belvo is an artist, master teacher and mentor. Belvo’s impact on the art world is far-reaching, having exhibited nationally and internationally, her work is in many permanent collections including the Minneapolis Institute of Art, the Bezalel Museum, the Dewitt Wallace Collection and General Mills. Belvo is a professor emeritus from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Belvo, a longtime advocate for the arts, is a founding member of both the Women’s Art Resources of Minnesota (WARM) and the Grand Marais Art Colony. This year celebrates her 30th year teaching at the Art Colony.
