So far this spring CCHS 110-meter high hurdler Jack Haussner has the fastest time posted in the area.
Haussner has a best time of 15.85 so far, more than two-tenths of a second faster then David Cornelius of Hermantown.
Haussner is also listed on the Duluth News Tribune’s prep track and field honor roll as having the second-longest long jump in the region. Jack recorded a leap of 20-1. Wyott Gerson of Duluth Denfeld tops that list with a bound of 22-7.5.
Jack’s 100 meter and 200 meter times were just outside of the top five times listed on the prep honor roll.
Most notable is that Cook County doesn’t have a track or a long jump pit. Haussner sets up hurdles in the recreation park on the road and practices there. He only gets to long jump at track meets. The senior plans to participate in track in college and he will no doubt show vast improvement once he has the right facilities to practice in.
His success to date is a testament to talent, hard work and good coaching.
