Harlan Olson, 63, of Lutsen died unexpectedly Wednesday, February 16, 2011 in Lutsen.
He was born July 8, 1947 to Benny and Ruby (Severson) in Enderlin, North Dakota. Harlan grew up in Minneapolis, and graduated from West High School. He attended St. Cloud St. College for one year before enlisting in the Army. He served in Vietnam for three years.
Upon his return he owned and operated a board and care facility in Minneapolis. He met Nancy Larson and they were married in 1985. Harlan moved to Grand Marais in 1993 and worked for Caribou Construction until his retirement. He was a lifetime member of the VFW. Harlan enjoyed fishing, hunting, especially bear hunting, and being outside entertaining his family.
Harlan was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Nancy of Lutsen; sisters, Linda (Phil) Rosso of Chaska, MN, Bonnie Keator of Bloomington; stepchildren, Denise (Eric) Silnes of Crystal, MN, Robb (Kim) Leck of Hugo, MN, and Steve Leck of Lutsen; four step-grandchildren, Christopher, Cody, Erica, and Khrista; and many nieces and nephews.
