A once-popular hotspot is set to reopen, and a lot of people are happy to see it making a comeback.
Brad Rude and an able-bodied crew of carpenters, electricians, plumbers, and painters have spent the last several months fixing and refurbishing the former Harbor Light Supper Club. I say former because Brad is dropping the “supper club” moniker from his name and will instead operate as a bar and grill.
“We will serve burgers, appetizers, specialty sandwiches and pizzas,” Brad said.
“The kitchen will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days of the week,” said Brad, adding, “However, we will serve pizzas until close.”
Speaking of food, Brad said one thing for sure is that, “We will bring back all of the Harbor Light burgers. Once people heard I was going to reopen, they have been asking continuously if we will have the old Harbor Light burgers, and we will.”
There will also be a full bar, local beers, and an array of national and international beer to pick from.
While most of the work has been done, some final touches need to occur before the doors open. “I’m hoping to open in mid-January. I want to make this a welcoming place for people to come to.
Some music in the background and food and beverages on hand to order. Keep it simple and fun. Kind of like it was in the old days.”
Brad worked at the Harbor Light as a younger man. He bartended, cooked, and managed some. “I want people to know that the Harbor Light is back. There were a lot of memories made here. A lot of good times were had here,” he said.
The last business in the building was The Wunder Bar, but its owners couldn’t survive the pandemic, and the building was returned to Brad’s parents, Brad Sr., and Sandy Rude. After a long break in the family running the Harbor Light, Brad is back, and he seems happy and can’t wait to open his doors and serve the public.
“I want to thank my parents, friends, and everyone who has helped me make this happen.”
