At press time, local ski and snowmobile groups provided the following snow report:
Sugarbush Trail Association
March 6 update: Winter has finally
arrived at the Sugarbush trail
system, with 18-20 inches of snow
during the last week. Power tilling
has firmed up the trails in most
areas but expect soft conditions
in some sections until multiple
grooming passes are made. By far
the best conditions of the season.
See www.sugarbushtrail.org for
the latest conditions.
Lutsen Area
Feb. 28 report: Here is the situation.
We are dealing with a huge
amount of snow — from 9-16
inches. So, it is not as simple as
just going out and grooming the
trails. Even our Pisten Bully got
stuck!
We have Deeryard Lake, Pioneer
Loop, Ridge Run and Lookout
Mountain and the Western
Cascade State Park trail groomed
for classic skiing. Base will be
softer than usual with some
track setting problems but snow
is great. We are packing out to
Solbakken today and plan on
packing all of the Hall/Massie
run out to Lutsen and loops near
Solbakken tomorrow. We will
re-groom the Cascade side of
things on Thursday — all loops
assuming weather is cooperating.
We plan to re-groom the entire
Solbakken System on Friday.
Also, the sleigh ride is now
running from Cascade Lodge;
rides are Tuesday and Wednesday
evenings for free, and on Saturday
for a fee. Call the lodge at (218)
387-1112 for details.
See www.norpinetrails.org for a
complete report.
Pincushion
Groomer’s March 1 report: All
trails, except Ole Hyvaa, were
groomed last night for classic and
skate skiing. Upper and Lower
Snowman were set with a double
track as well as a skate lane.
Visit pincushiontrails.org/trailreports for the latest.
Golden Eagle
March 1 update: We had more
snow yesterday and today, and
we’ve had over 20 inches in the
last couple of weeks. There was
a lot of drifting with this latest
snow and the groomers are out
working. Most of the trails will be
done today.
For the most current conditions,
call us at 1-800-346-2203 or 218-
388-2203.
North Shore snowmobiling
Hungry Jack Lodge filed this update
on March 6: “We have had several
riders in today and the overall
reports of the trails are really
good. The groomers have been
out yesterday and today. They
will also be out later this week as
well. We did see a lot of traffic this
past weekend and the trails are
still holding up pretty good.
Come on up and get a last minute
trip in before the season is over!”

all the latest conditions and trail
recommendations.
Banadad Trails
March 4 report: The east end
trails and Banadad to mid-Trail
have been re-tracked, and
ski conditions continue to be
excellent. We have had 8 inches
over the past week, and there is 25
inches of snow in the woods.
See boundarycountry.com for the
latest conditions and snow totals.
Sawbill Trail
As of March 2, there is 30 inches
of snow. The trail is free and open,
classic style only, suitable for all ski
levels.
Call (218) 663-7150 for more
information.
West End snowmobile trails
The Lutsen TrailBreakers report
March 2 that with the recent
snowfall, full grooming operations
are finally under way. “All trails
are groomed and ready! Best
snow is still back away from Lake
Superior. Access to food and gas is
now easy. Keep the shiny side up,
rubber side down. Ride on!”
