The Cook County Curling Club held its 8th Annual Open Halloween Bonspiel on October 27 and 28 with eight teams competing in a round-robin format. The club is always happy to see its returning “spooky” guests from the St. Paul Curling Club.

Everyone enjoyed the camaraderie, social interaction, plus some serious curling on fast ice. This year, two of the local teams each had fathers whose middle school sons joined in the festivities. Kudos to those boys, Noah Smith and Andrew Halberg, they did an awesome job of curling!

The Julie Smith rink from the St. Paul Curling Club won the “Gold” event; the Curt Severson rink from St. Paul Curling Club won the “Silver” event; and the Marshall “Dinky” Pedersen rink from the Cook County Curling Club won the “Bronze” event.

Coldwell Banker from Grand Marais sponsored prize money for the best team and individual in costume for the costume contest. Julie Smith rink from the St. Paul Curling Club won the team prize and Anton Moody from the Cook County Curling Club won the individual prize.
