The $2 million bituminous replacement project on County State Aid Highway (CSAH) 12 (Gunflint Trail) is tentatively scheduled to begin June 1 and be completed in mid-August.
The Cook County Highway Department announced that KGM Contractors of Angora, Minnesota, will be the contractor for the 3.73- mile project, which runs from Fox Ridge Road to the west intersection of County Road 92. The project includes repair or replacement of numerous culverts, removal of existing pavement and placement of new bituminous pavement. No change to the alignment or topography of the road will be part of this project.
According to County Engineer David Betts, traffic will be restricted to one lane as culverts are replaced. Betts urged motorists to plan accordingly and to drive with caution in all work zones.
