Over the past three decades, Michael Gulezian has established himself as one of the most significant solo acoustic instrumental guitarists of our time. Raising the aesthetic of contemporary acoustic guitar to a higher level with each new album, Gulezian has been named as a primary musical influence by artists as diverse as Michael Hedges, Willy Porter, and Henry Kaiser.
Not only technically breathtaking to watch, Gulezian is known for his charismatic stage presence, offbeat humor and genuine humility, which have earned him an ever-growing fan base. The atmospheric power, joy, and haunting beauty he creates onstage and in his recordings inspired a Dirty Linen reviewer to remark, “Gulezian messes with space and time in ways French composer Erik Satie could only dream of.”
And Acoustic Guitar’s John Diliberto raves, “for all his virtuosic ferocity, [he] never loses sight of the melody, or the drama of his compositions… At this stage in his career, Gulezian doesn’t need to prove he can play, he just needs more people to hear his expansive and original sound.” Millions of listeners of NPR’s West Coast Live, Echoes, and World Café and thousands of audience members across the country have been treated to his amazing sound.
The North Shore Music Association is excited to host Michael Gulezian at the Arrowhead Center for the Arts (51 W. 5th St., Grand Marais) on April 13 at 7 p.m. General admission tickets ($18 adults, $10 youth) are for sale in advance at www.aca.tix.com (no fees), by phone 218-387-1272, and at the box office on concert night (6 p.m.).
