Cook County Higher Education’s next Guest Lecture series is Get the Most out
of Reading to Children
on Tuesday, Nov. 9 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the North Shore campus.
Kathy Sullivan will present the topic and discussion regarding reading to children, whether you are a parent, grandparent, or other care-provider. Part of preparing children for the future is teaching them to be critical and creative thinkers. Reading is the key to understanding life and work. Through presentation, discussion, and small group work, this event will provide tools for learning how to use read-alouds to foster deeper understanding.
Sullivan has an MS in Curriculum and Development from Drake University, and has taught, offered classes, and been immersed in reading and literacy for over 25 years.
The Guest Lectures are held at Cook County Higher Education’s North Shore Campus, 300 W. 3rd St. Thelectures are free and open to the public, although donations are welcome and will support the North Shore Campus Learning for Life endowment campaign.
This event is sponsored by the Cook County Community Foundation, and in collaboration with the Grand Marais Senior Center. Refreshments will be donated by Birchbark Books and Gifts, Beth’s Fudge and Gifts, and Johnson’s Foods.
