Gregory Andrew Palfe





 

 

Gregory Andrew Palfe, 68, of Eagan and Hovland, Minnesota, passed away July 8, 2014.

Greg was born in St. Paul, Minnesota and graduated from North St. Paul High School in 1964, University of Minnesota in 1968 and received a master’s degree in experiential education from Mankato University. Greg’s career included 22 months in the U.S. Army, 3rd Infantry Division Headquarters Company, Wurzburg, Germany; business, banking and teaching at Dakota Hills Middle School in Eagan; and his most recent work was with Forensic Technologies in Woodbury for 15 years before retirement in September 2011.

Greg enjoyed 40 seasons at “Bay Cottage” on Lake Superior, Chicago Bay, Hovland.

Greg’s cancer journey began in April 2012 with a diagnosis of Stage 4 (non-nicotine) lung cancer. For 26 months he coped with cancer treatments while celebrating life and opportunities to spend time with family, friends and “up north.” Greg was grateful for the cancer care through Health Partners Cancer Care Center, Health Partners Hospice Program and for four weeks at the N.C. Little Memorial Hospice in Edina.

He was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Palfe.

Greg is survived by his wife, Kristin; mother, Cleo Palfe; brothers Garry (Yvonne) and Dick (Kathy) Palfe; sister, Patty Paren; and nephews, a niece and great-niece.

A celebration of life service honoring Greg’s life and legacy will be held at 2 p.m. Sept. 13 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hovland. In lieu of flowers, memorials are encouraged to Trinity Church, WTIP or the Cook County Historical Society.

Cremation services were provided by the Minnesota Cremation Society.
