Cook County Emergency Management is once again hosting a two-day Emergency Services Conference, a training opportunity for emergency responders—firefighters, First Responders, law enforcement officers, doctors, nurses, EMTs, and related fields. The conference, open to people throughout the region, will be held Friday and Saturday, April 29-30.

Most sessions will be held at the Cook County Community Center, such as Skywarn, Storm Spotting; Obstetrics for the First Responder; Cross Border Amateur Radio Set up and more. However others will be off site such as car burn and vehicle extraction, to be held at the Grand Marais Fire Hall and Cold Water Rescue at the Grand Marais Recreation Park.

In addition to the valuable training, the ES Conference gives the opportunity for emergency workers to get together in an informal, non-urgent situation. Throughout the weekend there are chances to dine together with some meals included with conference registration. A Friday night dinner is courtesy of Gunflint Lodge.

The training wraps up with a Saturday night dinner featuring guest speaker Kevin Reed, deputy director of Minnesota Homeland Security and Emergency Management, followed by an awards presentation.

To register, clip the registration form in the April 2 Cook County News-Herald, pick up a registration form at Cook County Law Enforcement or email Jim. wiinanen@co.cook.mn.us to request a form.
