Great state finish for History Day students





Earning honors at the History Day state competition on Sunday, April 29 were (L-R) Roman Schnobrich, Sean MacDonnell, and Will Seaton. Cook County students took on the History Day competition theme Revolution, Reaction and Reform at the University of MN on Sunday, April 29 and created some fascinating displays, documentaries and performances. One Cook County Middle School student—Sean MacDonell made it into the elite top 10 in the junior individual performance.

Teacher Dorie Carlson cheered on Sean MacDonell noting that he placed “in the medals!” with 5th place for his performance on Che Guevara and the Agrarian Land Reform in Guatemala.

Carlson proudly noted that Sean has gone to state in three categories this year— in the National Geographic Geography Bee, Knowledge Bowl and now History Day.

Also receiving recognition were Will Seaton and Roman Schnobrich for their History Day 11th place honorable mention for their exhibit The Migrant Worker Revolution.

Joining his former classmates at the event was Joe Rauzi, now from Duluth, who also received an honorable mention for his group performance on jazz.
