Nonprofits and community groups are invited to a workshop offering grant-writing techniques to organizations in Cook County.
The workshop will provide information about where and how to apply for grants. The event will be from 10-11:30 a.m. Jan. 25 at Cook County Higher Education, 300 W. Third St., Room 214, Grand Marais. There is no fee for admission, but registration is appreciated. Attendees will learn: . Sources available locally for grants to nonprofits . Funding priorities of local grant makers . Application deadlines and other steps for grant applications . Tips for successful applications
The Cook County Community Fund, an affiliate of the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation, sponsors the event. The workshop is designed to motivate prospective grant recipients in advance of upcoming deadlines for local and regional grant applications.

The Cook County Area Fund was created in 2003 as an affiliate of the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation. The Community Foundation encourages private giving for the public good. It makes grants to nonprofits and individuals for scholarships and provides leadership on community initiatives in northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin.
