Grand Portage not included in giving guide

As a long time resident of Cook County and specifically Grand Portage I am disappointed & quite frankly hurt by once again being left out and omitted as a part of the county. The Cook County Community Fund (CCCF) published a Cook County directory guide to giving to nonprofit organizations and volunteer opportunities in Cook County. This was to be mailed to all households in Cook County.

I live in Grand Portage and did not receive one nor did any of my neighbors. I took the time to download the guide onto my computer. I read through it and except for a mention of the receiver in Grand Portage for WTIP and Holy Rosary Catholic Church mass times, Grand Portage was not mentioned at all.

We have a school, fire department, health care clinic, EMS, Mt. Rose Community Church, snowmobile club, Community Center, elder services and human service department that are non-profits just to name a few. These organizations provide many opportunities and people support to provide comprehensive services to our community members. Myself, my neighbors and the Tribal Council contribute to many of the organizations highlighted in the guide. I don’t know how the organizations in the guide were picked to be included. I only know that Grand Portage was not included. I believe this was just an oversight, but it sure is a big one.
