The Grand Portage Elders continue to stay active participating in weekly card games, water aerobics, Wisdom Steps, chair exercises, shopping, eating at the ENP and attending evening RTC & Elder Advisory meetings. All this in spite of the snow!

Seven people, including our new Deputy Sheriff Chris Morris, attended the 3rd annual Elder Abuse Conference in Walker, Minnesota. This conference is always very educational, thought provoking and interesting. We were instructed on subjects as varied as financial theft, medication theft, laws, what is abuse, how to recognize abuse, report it and protect ourselves from it.

We also were able to share with other reservations and communities about what they are doing and what is working in their communities. The last day of the conference there were raffles for many donated items. Our deputy was a lucky winner even winning prizes for our whole table. Way to go, Chris!

We are looking forward to May and the spring craft sale at the Grand Portage Lodge and the annual Elder Pow-Wow on Saturday, May 10. This is always well attended and enjoyed by all who attend.
