A trial date has been set for Edwin Olaf Vick, 74, of Shakopee, MN. Vick was arrested in the Twin Cities on October 5, 2009 and charged with probable cause related to the armed robbery of the Grand Portage Trading Post. Vick is scheduled to appear before a jury at the Cook County courthouse on July 27, 2010.
The robbery occurred on October 1, 2009. During the robbery, the suspect wore a ski mask and rubber dishwashing gloves. A rifle with a silver scope was used. No shots were fired and no one was physically injured. A tip to Cook County Law Enforcement based on Grand Portage Trading Post casino surveillance camera photos led to Vick’s arrest.
After his arrest, Vick applied for, and was granted, a public defender in October 2009. His attorney is Murad Mohammad of Woodbury, MN. Vick underwent a courtordered competency evaluation in December 2009. On March 12, 2010, Vick posted bail and was released on $50,000 bond.
