Grand Portage Ambulance assists Isle Royale patient

The Grand Portage Ambulance was paged to Hat Point Marina in Grand Portage on May 31 to meet Rangers from Isle Royale National Park onboard the Amik. The Park Service requested the ambulance to transport a 25-year-old male with a hand injury.

The patient, an archeologist, injured his hand with an ax.

Although Isle Royale National Park is located in Michigan, it is 56 miles across Lake Superior to Houghton, Michigan, but only 22 miles away from Grand Portage.

The Grand Portage Ambulance met the ship at 4:53 p.m. and transported the man to North Shore Hospital. No further information is available on the injured man.
