Grand Marais woman injured in single car accident




A Grand Marais woman suffered serious injuries in a single car accident on Highway 61 in Schroeder on Thursday, May 28.

Beverly Johnson, 70, of Grand Marais was traveling east on the highway in a 2013 Subaru Outback when she swerved to avoid a deer, lost control and hit the ditch.

Lake County Ambulance responded and Johnson was transported to Lake View Hospital in Two Harbors and then Essentia – St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth. At press time Johnson was still hospitalized with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

Johnson was wearing her seatbelt and the airbag in her car deployed.

The damage to Johnson’s vehicle was severe. It was removed from the ditch by Cook County Towing.
