On Sunday, March 9, following the performance, the Grand Marais Playhouse will present its 2014 Excellence in Theater Arts Award to High School Senior Cy Fortunato. Cy has been participating onstage, backstage and assisting in the Playhouse office since 2004 when he was in the Best Christmas Pageant Ever at the age of 7. If you saw Cy in the High School One Act performance The Undercurrent in January, you may not recognize him in his current role of George in Our Town, a testament to his skills as an actor. This is always a bittersweet time as we watch his final performance with the Playhouse and send him off with all the well wishes of this grateful theater community. Congratulations Cy. Thank you!
The Playhouse Town Meeting has been re-scheduled for March 18 at 7 p.m. This is a very important meeting about the upcoming season and future seasons of the Grand Marais Playhouse. Anyone interested in the Playhouse, whether audience, actor, crew, parent or community member should come participate in the discussion. Survey results will be shared and discussed as well. Please go to grandmaraisplayhouse.com to complete the survey if you have not done so. We need to hear from you.
The Playhouse office will be closed March 21 – April 3, as Playhouse Director Sue Hennessy will be attending the United States Institute of Theater Technology conference in Fort Worth, Texas. This annual conference provides Sue with the opportunity to see the new technologies of the entertainment business, as well as continue her education with theater professionals in areas of design, lighting, sound, scenic painting, costuming, staging, production management, and performance facility management.
