Cook County Law Enforcement received a call from Naniboujou Lodge at 4:41 p.m. on Monday, August 16, reporting an accident in front of the lodge on Highway 61.
Hovland and Colvill Fire Departments, First Responders, and Cook County Ambulance were called and arrived on the scene to transport Tim Miller, 46, of Grand Marais, to Cook County North Shore Hospital.
According to Minnesota State Patrol Officer Leah Carpenter, Miller was traveling southwest on Highway 61 on a 2003 Harley- Davidson motorcycle when he drove up behind a 2007 Subaru Forester which had stopped to make a left turn onto Naniboujou Trail. TheSubaru, with two female occupants, appeared to hesitate while making the turn. Carpenter said Miller had slowed considerably and veered to the right, but struck the right rear of the Subaru.
Miller was not speeding and he was wearing a helmet. He suffered an injury to his lower left leg. Miller was transported to Cook County North Shore Hospital and then to a Duluth hospital, where he was treated and released to recover at home.
The occupants of the Subaru were uninjured. No charges were filed on any of the drivers involved.
