It is a community of trust and honesty where people can leave tons of fertilizer bags in the open or plants on display. Where one can leave his belongings on an open trailer without fear of losing them.
This is a village where people purposely smile and give a warm greeting of “good morning.”.. and mean it.
I grew up in the 1950s, even before The Andy Griffith Show came to demonstrate small town charm and commonplace character. I have found it all in this charming city by the bay, in this grand little town of Grand Marais. Even the big city folks who come for a brief visit or tour leave impressed by the kind, pleasant nature of this village. Its small, quaint stores and the ever-friendly personnel treat any customer like a king or queen.
I have seen many of the great cities of the world and therefore experienced many a thing but nothing has left me with so fabulous an impression as this glimmering diamond by the lake and its gracious people. Though I dread my very long journey back to the east coast state of Maine, I will drive with the delightful memories I have of this, the pride of Minnesota and jewel of the world, Grand Marais.
