Grand Marais Lioness Club welcomes five new members

New Lioness Club members Billi Carlson, Lori Hommerding, Dena Schliep, Jean Bushman, Sherri Bichel were welcomed at the last Lioness Club meeting.

The Grand Marais Lioness Club is happy to welcome five new members: Sherri Bichel, Jean Bushman, Billi Carlson, Lori Hommerding and Dena Schliep, all Grand Marais residents.

The Lioness Club offers its new members an opportunity to serve the community while gathering in fellowship once a month for Lioness business meetings and guest speaker presentations. New members bring new ideas, energy and new projects to the Club.

The Lions and Lioness clubs are the largest service organization in the world, with over 1.4 million members. TheLions Club International convention was held in Minneapolis this July, with 15,000 to 20,000 Lions and Lionesses from all over the world attending. Lioness Irene Malner and Lion Gene Malner, from Grand Marais, watched the 4 1/2-hour parade winding through the Minneapolis downtown area.

Thenext Lions Club International convention will be held in Sydney, Australia, in June 2010. It was an honor to have the convention come to Minnesota this year.
