Tromping through mud, especially if you are in kindergarten, is one of the highlights of being a kid. Mud and children go together like dew on morning grass, fish in water, clouds in sky, sloppy puppy kisses on grinning faces and silly kittens chasing their tails, it’s just a normal part of nature.

That said, mud is mud and best left outside. To that end, the students at Great Expectations School (GES) have benefited from the generous grants provided by the Grand Marais Lioness Club, and the latest, greatest grant provides mud boots.

“We are, of course, very grateful!” said GES Director Peter James. “Grants provided funds for resources that enhanced and expanded opportunities for student learning.

“The kindergarten classroom obtained several pairs of insulated mud boots so that all students would have a warm, dry pair available,” said James.

“Outdoor studies and play are essential to this classroom, and the extra boots helped make it possible for everyone to be outside every day,” he added.
