A photo of a Cook County landmark was among 14 awards garnered by Lake Superior Magazine from the Minnesota Magazine and Publishing Association’s annual Excellence Awards.
The Grand Marais lighthouse was featured on the cover of the magazine’s February/March 2012 issue to illustrate Wild about Weather, a story detailing weather and weather effects in the region. The photo, taken by Grand Marais photographer Paul Sundberg, of a storm surge against the lighthouse earned a Silver design award; the accompanying story earned a Silver award for technical article.
In all, the Duluth-based magazine won two Gold awards, six Silver awards and six Bronze awards, and was named among the five finalists for Minnesota Magazine of the Year.
