The Grand Marais Community Visioning and Comprehensive Plan Update is continuing its community engagement process with a two-day series of in-person engagement events. Community ideas are vital for guiding the future of Grand Marais and identifying opportunities within the community.
The first event, a Kickoff Workshop, will offer opportunities for community members to be a part of the community vision project by learning how to gather valuable feedback through fun and interactive activities and questions. Community members are encouraged to attend and be a part of engaging their neighbors. Visioning exercises that build on community values and set goals for the future of Grand Marais will follow a brief presentation.
The Kick-off Workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, October 18 from 2:30 p.m. – 4 p.m. at the Cook County courthouse.
In addition, Pop-Up Workshops will be held at several community events following the Kick Off. These mobile and interactive workshops will offer additional opportunities for public comment.
Pop-Ups are friendly and casual activities with richly illustrated materials, timely project information, and multiple tools for direct participation and comment — from games and surveys to informal discussion. This innovative approach will help expand community participation and offer a convenient opportunity for Grand Marais residents to provide guidance for the project team.
In addition, online comments and ideas will continue to be received through the project’s dynamic, interactive website: www.GrandMaraisVisioning.org
