This year, the theme for the Grand Marais Garden Club has been “Out and About with Gardening,” and we certainly have been all over the area! We’ve spent the spring and summer touring several gardens in Cook County. We’ve learned about wildflowers and shared blueberry recipes. In September, we headed up the Gunflint Trail and had lunch at Trail Center, followed by a tour of Chik Wauk Museum. We enjoyed a wonderful make and take this spring and now, in October, we will be learning how to make birdseed balls.
As we all start to settle in for the cooler weather that is sure to come, wouldn’t it be nice to have something to put outside for our feathered friends? If this sounds like something you’d like to do, join us! We’ll be meeting on Monday, October 10th, at 10 a.m. in the lower-level meeting room at St. John’s Catholic Church, 10 5th Street. Visitors are always welcome and, if you’d like to join this great group of local gardeners, membership is only $10.
