With Linda Quick’s delightful demonstration of gift-wrapping using pinecones, evergreen cuttings, from the garden and “the burn pile” etc. the Grand Marais Garden Club has had its last regular meeting for 2021 and is looking forward to April of 2022. The clubs annual Christmas luncheon, December 13th at Skyport is yet to come.

For almost 90 years the Grand Marais Garden Club has had strong leadership. Frankie Jarchow, who has recently served as president several terms, has been one of them. Frankie and her family have decided they want and need her closer to their home. Our community has benefited from Frankie’s long stay here, serving on many committees and advisory boards. From Healthy Living to pickleball, Frankie was there contributing and involved. But for the Garden Club the most signature accomplishment might be what is now called “the First Street Park” for want of a better name. That small plot of ground just below South of the Border which now is lush with vegetation.

The garden club welcomes any and all with any interest in gardening and other related activities to join, watch for an announcement in the early spring.
