Senator Amy Klobuchar, Senator Tina Smith, and Representative Rick Nolan have announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded Grand Marais/ Cook County Airport a grant of $85,500 for infrastructure improvements.
“This grant award will help Grand Marais/ Cook County Airport make critical infrastructure improvements,” Klobuchar said. “Projects like these not only boost the economy, but they also help support good jobs.”
“Airports are drivers of economic development,” said Smith. “I look forward to the improvements at Grand Marais/Cook County Airport bringing additional opportunities to the Arrowhead region.”
“Strengthening the Grand Marais/Cook County Airport means strengthening the rural economy in Grand Marais and the entire region,” Nolan said. “The $85,000 federal grant will go toward needed infrastructure improvements, contribute to keeping our rural economy strong, and keep our rural travelers safe.”
This grant funds the reconstruction of the seaplane base ramp to preserve access to the airport.
