Grand Marais Art Colony seeking dinner guests

“At the Table” is a full dining installation and performance piece by bowl turner Jim Sannerud that comes to life through a shared dinner experience. Inspired by Scandinavian design from his ancestral farm in Norway, Jim handcrafted three large backdrop panels, a large table, chairs, and serving vessels with the intention to create dialogue about place, memory and traditions. The installation is on display and open to the public Dec. 29, January 7 from 9 a.m. to 4p.m.

The exhibit will culminate with a shared dinner “At the Table” of eight randomly selected community members. Participants will be asked to bring a dish to share that is accompanied by a story. The food will act as a conversation piece for each individual and open a dialogue about place, memory, and how traditions are translated.

There is no cost for this event (other than your shared dish). Space is limited. Please contact the Art Colony if you are interested in participating by December 15.
