To Cook County/Grand Marais Economic Development Authority (EDA) Board Chair Mark Sandbo:
Thank you so much for your committee’s success in securing the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) grant of $112,000.00 for the Grand Marais Apartments, Inc.
As you know, our facility was built in 1974 by a grassroots committee much like your own, working towards a sustainable building to house those people who are on Social Security and have a limited income. Their legacy is one the current Grand Marais Apartments board wishes to honor and with your help and the partnership of the Arrowhead Economic Opportunity Agency (AEOA), we hope to bring this building into this century and up to new standards and safety for the next 40 years and beyond!
With the generous support of committees like the EDA, we will be able to help many of these families and individuals not only to meet essential daily needs, but to also be able to take pride in their home and most importantly be able to “age in place.”
What your board has done in the last year in rebuilding; changing your focus and moving forward has been significant. It was and will continue to be exciting to watch you grow and continue on this path in partnership with other local entities as well as the outreach you now have with AEOA and others. Your continued success benefits us all!
