I’ve some questions I wish people would think about:
The Lutsen fire truck was a “good deal for taxpayers because they received FEMA money.” Question — Where does FEMA money come from? Somebody’s taxes!
Everybody wants to spend the 1 percent sales tax money right now. Question — Isn’t spending “projected tax” risky since “projected” doesn’t always pan out?
A pack — not a wolf, but a pack — is running our fields, paying no attention to noises. Question — Why are so many people so hung up on wolves? Why are people so sure that they will never attack humans? Why are we to ignore that they are losing their fear of humans and killing pets near houses? Why shouldn’t each state be able to decide when enough is enough?
The county prescription card that saves on prescription costs? Question — Where does the money come from? If it is from the drug companies wouldn’t they just lower their prices?
The health insurance companies are supposed to cover routine exams. Question — If everyone is going to use insurance for these, won’t premiums have to be high enough to cover the cost? Insurance is based on the premise that most of the buyers won’t have to use the services.
Everybody should get back more in services than they pay in taxes. That, I’ll answer. That idea is why this country is in the mess it’s in. The idea money can appear out of thin air is wrong! Somebody — somewhere — pays when the government hands out money!
