Good times recorded at the Polar League track meet

The Cook County girls’ and boys’ track teams competed at the May 18 Polar League Track and Field Championship, and both teams came away with some good results. The girls placed seventh out of eleven teams in the team competition, while the boys were tenth out of eleven teams.

Girls’ results

100 meters:

CCHS senior Molly LaVigne posted a time of 13.90 in the 100 meters to claim fourth place. Brianna Monson ran 14.80 to finish 14th, and Kalina Dimitrova placed 23rd in 15.62.

200 meters: In the 200-meter run, Moly placed sixth in a time of 28.7. Brianna ran 30.96 to finish 14th.

400 meters: Genevieve Silence ran the 400-meters in 75.22 to place 15th. Sienna Woerheide placed 17th with a time of 1:23.96 and Grace Blomberg ran 1:17.12 to finish 18th.

800 meters: Anna Hay placed 9th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:28.8. Lexi Surbaugh finished 14th with a time of 2:57.7 and Emma Cook finished 20th with a time of 3:10.11.

1600 meters: Hay took second place in the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:49.35 and Surbaugh finished in 5th in 6:09.71.

3200 meters: Cece Chemlik placed eighth in the 3200 meter run with a time of 15:45.85.

300-meter hurdles: Sylvia Hansen, 8th grade, placed third in the 300- meter hurdles with a time of 56.95.

Relays: In the relay events, Cook County’s 4×100 meter relay placed ninth (62.40); the 4×200 meter relay took 10th (2:13.90), and the 4×400 meter relay placed eighth (5:00.52), and the 4×800 meter relay finished sixth in 13:30.58.

Long jump: Zoe Kacures placed 14th in the long jump with a leap of 10 feet 9 inches. Kylie Viren placed 16th with a jump of 10 feet 1.5 inches.

Shot put: Kalina Dimitrova placed ninth in the shot put with a heave of 22 feet 10.5 inches. Cece Chmelik was right behind Dimitrova with a throw of 22 feet 3 inches. Zoe Kacures placed 14th with a throw of 19 feet 11.5 inches.

Discus: Kalina Dimitrova finished tenth place in the discus with a throw of 65 feet 2 inches. Cece Chmelik placed 14th with a throw of 60 feet 7 inches.

Boys’ results

100 meters: Ryan Christiansen placed sixth with a time of 11.7. Ben Rex took 14th in 12.94 seconds and MaCoy Fairbanks placed 19th in 13.48 seconds.

200 meters: Ryan Christian ran 23.96 to place fifth. Finn Taylor placed 15th, running a time of 27.48. Seventh grader MaCoy Fairbanks ran 28.1 seconds to take 20th.

400 meters: Ben Rex ran 58.37 to place eight. Gus Hahn finished 14th with a time of 64.38 and Isaac Schmidt placed 17th with a time of 68.74.

800 meters: Haddon Taylor ran 2:39.66 to place 14th. Robert Rodriguez finished 18th with a tie of 2:47.61.

1600 meters: Brayden Schmidt placed 11th with a time of 5:18.9. Kyler Hansen finished in 11th place with a time of 5:38.090 and Tristan Surbaugh took 15th place with a time of 5:30.05.

3200 meters: Keean Selin ran 11:40.69 to finish 11th. Merlin Higgins placed 14th with a time of 12:35.27, and Andrew Hallberg crossed the finish line in 12:57.82 to take 17th.

Relays: Cook County placed sixth in the 4×100 meter relay in 50.93 seconds and finished in eighth place in the 4×200 meter relay in 1:52.73. The boys took sixth place in the 4×400 meter relay with a time of 4:19.7 and placed sixth in the 4×800 meter relay with a time of 9:49.40.

Long jump: Kaleb Berka jumped 14 feet 11 inches to place tenth in the long jump. Rylan Brown finished 19th with a leap of 13 feet six inches.

Triple Jump: Kaleb Berka placed fifth in the triple jump with a hop, skip and jump of 33 feet seven inches. Rylan Brown took ninth place with a leap of 29 feet 10.25 inches.

Shot Put: Arlo Christiensen placed 16th with a throw of 29 feet 9.5 inches. Seventh grader Lute Jensen placed 24th with a shot put of 20 feet 8.5 inches.

Discus: Arlo Christensen threw the discus 76 feet two inches to place 17th. Lute Jansen threw 54 feet 1 inch to take 22nd.
