The Chuck Futterer Senior Memorial Open Bonspiel was well attended this past weekend with lots of good curling from the 20 teams competing. Chuck Futterer Jr., Bruce Futterer and Craig Futterer each played and had family members on those teams.

In addition, there were many other teams that had first and second generation curlers playing.

There were a lot of spectators behind the glass throughout the weekend. Some came just to say hi to the family and to share stories about Chuck Futterer Senior and about the old Curling Club facility and how much fun they had in days gone by. Of course, most just came to watch some good curling and to socialize.

Master carver Bruce Futterer carved the plaque that will be on display at the Cook County Community Center in honor of his father, Chuck Futterer Senior.

The Cook County Curling Club is in its final weeks of curling for the season. On Monday play downs start for League title.
