Go4Life with Seniors Connect West!

Our West End seniors have been enjoying winter by increasing attendance at Go4Life fitness classes Monday and Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. and lunch Wednesday at 11:30 a.m.

Go4Life is a National Institute of Aging and National Institute of Health program. It offers supportive educational material and focuses on balance, strength, endurance, and flexibility. I lead the classes and offer individual consultations if you have questions or concerns. If you want to have a free online personal trainer or learn more visit go4life.nia.nih. gov website.

AARP walk-in tax clinics are held at Birch Grove every Thursday from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

I attended Schroeder, Lutsen, and Tofte Township meetings in February. It was great to meet our West End partners, offer information, and answer questions. We are hopeful that the 40 percent of West End residents over age 50 will be supportive of our funding requests on March 10 at the three township meetings.

Birch Grove Foundation believes MN Statute and Association of Township approved contracts for health, recreation, and human services as well as senior center development will be a great way to grow Seniors Connect West to meet the increasing numbers of seniors we are serving. The rate is less than $5 per $100,000 of assessed tax value on West End homes.

We are also excited to share we have increased our board of directors from seven to nine. We are specifically hoping to recruit representation, time, and talents from Lutsen and Schroeder. Give us a call or email bgf@boreal.org for more information.
