Give to the Max Day, Minnesota’s homegrown holiday of giving, is set to spread generosity across the state of Minnesota. The 24-hour online fundraiser for thousands of nonprofits and schools will take place on Thursday, Nov. 16 at GiveMN.org. Now in its ninth year, Give to the Max Day is powered by the nonprofit GiveMN.
To drive excitement and donations, GiveMN is kicking off a brand-new campaign, “10 Days. 10 Grand. 10 Ways to Pay It Forward.” on November 6. Ten Minnesotans, one at a time, will get the chance to pay their generosity forward with $1,000 for a deserving charity. They’ll receive $1,000 to give to a local nonprofit or school, and then choose the next recipient to continue the giving chain. Throughout the 10-day campaign, the giving chain and donations will travel across Minnesota, helping nonprofits and schools.
“Minnesotans are generous year-round, but I am always amazed at the level of generosity across our state on Give to the Max Day,” said Jake Blumberg, executive director of GiveMN. “Every dollar makes a real impact. With this year’s pay it forward campaign, we’re hoping to spark excitement, make a difference for Minnesota organizations and get people involved leading up to Give to the Max Day.”
Additionally, nonprofits and schools will be in friendly competition for $120,000 in prizes, such as Leaderboards and hourly Golden Ticket drawings—all made possible by GiveMN and its partners. Donors may begin making their gifts on November 1, and all donations will count toward the Give to the Max Day total and be eligible for prizes. Interested donors can visit GiveMN. org to find a cause and learn more.
Since its inaugural event in 2009, Give to the Max Day has raised more than $150 million for more than 10,000 Minnesota-based causes.
Launched in 2009 by Minnesota Community Foundation, GiveMN is supported by many generous foundation and corporate partners, as well as contributions from individual Minnesotans.
Today, GiveMN serves more than 10,000 nonprofit organizations and schools across Minnesota and more than 300,000 individual donors have used GiveMN to make a difference for causes in their communities. Organizations rely on GiveMN to help shatter the old-school fundraising model and connect more givers with more causes than ever before.
