The Cook County Girls’ track team competed well against Moose Lake/ Willow River, Carlton and Wrenshall last week.
Molly LaVigne took second place in the 100- meter dash in 13.69 seconds and third place in the 400-meter run in 69.62 seconds.
Also running the 100 meters was Olivia Nesgoda who finished 17th in 15:56 and Sylvie Hansen, who placed 19th in 15.78 seconds.
Anna Hay wasn’t far behind in the 400 meters. Anna took fifth with a time of 70.38 seconds and Amery Oberg was seventh place in 77.35 seconds. Sophia Sheehan was 11th in 80.25 seconds, MJ Wharton took 12th in 87.88 seconds and Kalina Dimitrova finished 14th in 93.56 seconds.
The Cook County Girls won the 4×800 meter relay with a time of 11:52.65.
In a close finish, Malin Anderson placed fourth in the 1600-meter run, crossing the line in 6:15.34. Malin was less than 0.4 tenths of a second from taking second in the very competitive run, and first place was only a few meters ahead.
Cece Chmelik (7:24.72) and Kylie Viren (7:50.66) finished in ninth and tenth place in the 1600-meter run.
Emma Crook ran 200 meters in 33.52 seconds to place 12th. Olivia Nesgoda finished 13th in 34.37 seconds; Sophia Sheehan ran 35.47 to place 15th and MJ Warton finished in 35.92 seconds to place 16th.
Cook County placed third in the 4×400 meter relay with a time of 5:10.40.
Hailey Smith took sixth place in the girls’ discus with a heave of 57’8.5”. Hailey also finished fifth in the shot put with a throw of 24 feet 2.5 inches.
The Cook County girl’s 4×100 meter relay placed second, running a time of 69.22 seconds.
Emma Crook and Grace Ritchey placed 9th and 10th in the long jump with leaps of 10 feet 2.5 inches and 10 feet 1 inch.
Olya Wright placed second in the 300-meter hurdles in 64:52 seconds.
CeCe Chmelik ran 800 meters in 3:15.68 to finish 12th place. Kylie Viren placed 15th in 3:42.18.
Cook County ran two 4×200 meter relay teams uncontested in the relay and took first and second in 2:18.81 and 2:33.52.
