Girls on the Run making big strides!

On Saturday, May 21st the Girls on the Run team in Grand Marais held a practice 5k run at Cut Face Creek. The event was well attended and full of energy with families supporting the girls as running buddies, helping at an aid station, and cheering the girls on as they crossed the finish line. Thank you to World’s Best Donuts for donating donuts. On June 4th the girls will head to Duluth with their running buddies and families to participate in a 5k with other teams from Greater Minnesota.

Girls on the Run is a program for girls in grades 3-5 to support healthy living through activities centered around social-emotional skills and running. Girls set goals each practice and work to accomplish running goals while discussing life skills like friendship, cooperation, and positive self-image. This year we have 20 girls participating in the program and 6 volunteer coaches including Tia Parks, Emma Spoon, Hannah Hoaglund, Rachel Andrus, Lori Rothstein, and Anne Mundell.
