The CCHS Vikings traveled to South Ridge on Thursday, December 21 to face the Panthers on their home court and lost a close contest.
“We got within three points but never managed to get the lead,” said head coach Kelly Senty. “We struggled boxing out as a team which hurt us.”
The Vikings fell 76-63.
Ariana Poyirier led the Vikings in scoring with 18 points. Sophie Eliasen finished with 15, Abbie Crawford 14, Paisley Smith 7, Alyssa Spry 6, and Maya McHugh had two points in the game.
“We are still getting into our line-ups and trying to figure out our starters,” coach Senty said. “We are a young team that has a lot of potential when we come together. We saw glimpses of that tonight.”
Next up for the Vikings is a holiday tournament in Two Harbors.
The Vikings’ first home game of the new year is on Jan. 5 at 6:30 p.m. against the Two Harbors Agates, who they will play for the third time.
On December 8 the Vikings traveled to Two Harbors to play the Agates and lost 62-29. Since that time the line-up has changed and a young Viking team is rapidly improving.
Come out and cheer for your Vikings!
