Katie Peck had three RBIs and scored three runs to help lead the Vikings to a 14-10 win over the Floodwood Polar Bears on Thursday, May 6.
Peck had two hits and walked once in three plate appearances.
Both teams took leads in the game. The Vikings led 4-3 after the first inning and Floodwood tied it up in the second. The Polar Bears would score two runs in the third to go up six to four. A three-run fourth inning gave the lead back to the Vikings, who led seven to six.
The Polar Bears pushed four runs across the plate in the top of the fifth, but the Vikings responded with seven runs to end the scoring and take a 14-10 victory.
Maggie Smith pitched four and one-third innings. Maggie didn’t allow a hit but walked ten, struck out three and gave up six runs. Kallie Anderson relieved Maggie, pitching two-thirds of an inning. Maggie gave up two hits, four runs, struck out one and walked three. The game was called at five innings because it was the second game for each team that day.
The Floodwood pitchers gave up six hits and walked thirteen.
Amery Oberg also had a good day at the plate. Amy had two hits, one walk, and one RBI. Morgan Starkey had one hit, one walks and one RBI. Charlet Waver finished with two walks and one RBI. Kallie Anderson and Allie Duclos each had two walks; both turned those walks into runs for the Vikings. Duclos had three stolen bases, Kallie Anderson two, Morgan Starkey two, Charlet Waver two, and Amy Oberg and Katie Peck each had one stolen base.
The Vikings had one fielding error.
