Girls fall to Moose Lake/ Willow River

Sophomore forward, Rhonnie Poyirier made five two-point field goals and was three of four from the free-throw line to score 13 points to lead the Vikings in a tough loss to the Double-A Moose Lake/ Willow River basketball team.

The game was played in Willow River on Friday night, December 20.

After a sluggish first half, which saw the Vikings scoring just 17 points, the team fought back and made 29 second-half points. Not enough, however, as they fell by 10, losing 56-46.

For the night, Abbie Crawford made nine points, Katie Peck eight, Paisley Smith seven, Ariana Poyirier seven, and Alyssa Spry finished with two points.

A bright spot for the Vikings was making 75 percent of their free throws. The team was 8-12 from the charity stripe.

The Vikings played in the Two Harbors Christmas tournament December 26-27 and will play at home against Southridge on January 3. Come out and cheer for your Vikings!
