Girls fall to Ely

Turnovers plagued the Vikings in their home game against the Ely Timberwolves that was played on a stormy, cold Tuesday, December 21 evening.

And often Ely turned those loose balls into baskets, taking the game 56-38.

Rhonnie Poyirier led the Vikings with 17 points. Makenzie Fairbanks also finished in double digits, netting 13. The only other Vikings to score were Kamryn Johnson, who had five points, and Amery Oberg, who finished with three. Fairbanks ended with three made three point shots.

Grace Latourell led the Timberwolves with 25 points and Madeline Kallberg finished with 13.

The girls are off now until Monday, January 3, when they play the Two Harbor’s Agates at home. The girls’ varsity game starts at 6:30 p.m. Come out and cheer for your Vikings!
