For more than a year the girls in Girl Scout Troop 4077 have been brainstorming ideas for a community service project to fulfill Girl Scout Bronze Award requirements. For months the fifth-graders have been researching their idea and then putting it in action through a remarkably fun event—a pajama party. The girls did all of the planning and promotion for the event and they provide the following report:
A thank you to the community members and Girl Scouts that helped us along our journey to the Bronze.
Troop 4077 worked very hard and have learned many things along the way, just ask us.
Thank you to all the older Girl Scouts and leaders for your guidance and encouragement. Thanks to Jill Terrill for allowing us to have our first gathering to start us along our path over a year ago. Thanks WTIP and the News-Herald for helping get the word out.
We had a great pajama party at the Free Church and collected 67 pairs of new pajamas for the Damiano Center in Duluth. That makes only 35 more pairs of new pajamas to make our goal of 102 pairs—in recognition of Girl Scouting’s 102nd anniversary.
Girl Scout week is March 10 -16 and we will deliver the pajamas to Damiano Center on March 11 and will be getting a tour of the shelter.
To further help, please drop off new pajamas in children’s sizes.
The Bethlehem Lutheran Church has graciously allowed us to meet there every week and is allowing us to have them be a drop off point for the pajamas. There is a collection box in the lower level of the church. Please drop off by March 10.
