Girl Scouts hosting kick-off campaign

It’s almost time for this year’s Girl Scouting adventures to begin! Cook County Girl Scouts are hosting a Kick Off camping night on Friday, September 22 to welcome girls to scouting.

Girls are invited to gather in the blue building at the Grand Marais Recreation Park after school. Friday the 22nd is an early-release day, so there will be time for a hike, crafts, dinner and a snack around the campfire.

Girls kindergarten through third grade will be picked up by 9 p.m. and older scouts are invited to sleep over in tents provided by Cook County Girl Scouts. Breakfast will be provided for the overnighters and parents can pick them up by 10 a.m.

K-3rd grade girls need to bring a water bottle, warm clothes and sturdy hiking shoes. Girls in 4th – 12th grades need to also bring pajamas, sleeping bag, sleeping pad (optional, no inflatables), and flashlight.

All girls who participate must be dropped off by an adult and must have a signed permission slip.

The Kick Off camping event is free, thanks to the Cook County Girl Scouts Service Unit. Anyone with questions may call Christine Kunze at 387-8338.
