Girl Scout poinsettia fundraiser brings holiday cheer

Cook County Girl Scouts, members of the Minnesota-Wisconsin Lake and Pines Council, are always busy with various projects. Each troop, from kindergarten through high school has its own ideas and projects, and this year, Troop 4110, the 10th grade Girl Scouts, is selling Christmas poinsettias to fulfill its goals.

Troop 4110 is planning a trip next October to the National Girl Scout Convention in Salt Lake City, Utah. All Cook County Girl Scouts participate in cookie sales to fund local activities, but for an opportunity like the national convention, troops must raise their own funds. The cost is approximately $1,000 per girl.

The beautiful flowers can be pre-ordered now for pick up at the Cook County Community Center holiday sale on Saturday, November 30. Contact the Scouts now to pre-order to ensure the color you want. There are six colors to choose from—red, pink, marble, white, burgundy and speckled— from a greenhouse in Carlton, Minn. The cost is $16.

If you are unable to pick up at the Community Center, the Girl Scouts will deliver if possible. To pre-order, email jaysheat@boreal.org or call 370- 1245. Please consider helping Girl Scout Troop 4110 and adding some holiday cheer to your home.
