Top Left: Blue Water Café served up hot dogs on the sidewalk for a hot dog eating contest. Last year’s winner was Mike Thunborg, New Brighton. He beat his hungry competition by eating five hotdogs in 3 minutes 45 seconds.

Pickled Herring Eating Contest – Sven & Ole’s Pizza – Saturday, August 1 – 2:00 p.m. Pizza Eating Contest – Sven & Ole’s Pizza – Saturday, August 1 – 2:30 p.m.
Above Left: For those who don’t like pickled herring, watching the Sven & Ole’s Pickled Herring Eating Contest may be painful. Contestants compete to see who can eat a halfpound of pickled herring!
Above Right: However, the pizza-eating contest is very tempting! Contestants gobble down a 12-inch thick crust pepperoni pizza. John Henneman has won the competition for two years in a row, 2007-2008.
